Nights like tonight put a lot of things into perspective. They make you realize things that may or may not have been hazy before.

I made an effort. That's all. I tried. Planned, did what I could, even used kind of a cheap form of bribery. Didn't happen. Cause I wasn't important enough.

Then it seemed like I might salvage a little bit. Nope. Didn't happen. Again, I ain't important enough.

I know I'm not the best friend in the world. I know I screw up from time to time, and I know I'm not always there for everyone. It's a pretty lousy feeling, but I guess it makes sense. I have a firmer grip on how things really are, and I know I'm pretty low on the list, and maybe I should be.

Anyway, the good news is I still have 12 beers. I still have All-Star basketball to look forward to. And it looks like the NHL is going to come back. Pretty good stuff, I'm excited. And baseball season is just around the corner. That's right, those crazy Sox are comin' on back.

I know I'm gonna feel better tomorrow. Heck, I already feel better having typed all that out.
