May. 8th, 2005 01:30 pmYesterday was more or less interesting. I got up and hung for a while and then went to music practice which was horrendous. No timing whatsoever...all over the fucking place. Just wasn't going well. It ran way long and there was mad traffic.
I left pretty much right away to try and get back to Davis so I could go to the show...I was almost sure Mike was going to leave without me. But, he didn't. So we went to SF amidst a ton of traffic all through San Francisco. Mike was pretty sure we were going to miss the band we were going to see but I called the club and they said Nile wasn't coming on until like 9:45. That was good information. Took us forever to find the fucking place, but eventually it was found and we got in by 9:30.
That guy had some good information. Right at 9:45 Nile came on and kicked fucking ass. They played about an hour which is pretty good for a non-headliner but I wanted them to play longer so bad. They were one of the more kick ass groups I had seen live ever. I just loved the constant growl vocals and the creepy Egyptian melodies running over the heavy guitars. "Sarcophagus", "Cast Out the Heretic" and "Annhilation of the Wicked" (which went on about 9 minutes) were the highlights. They kept the intensity until the very end with a low growl, "Thank you San Franciscooooo...WE ARE FUCKING NILE."
So the headliner was King Diamond who used to be the singer for Mercyful Fate. I hadn't heard much of him but people around were saying he was really good. His band was pretty kick ass. They were all these Eastern European guys who could fucking wail. King Diamond himself...not so much. He looks like this:

Yeah...he used this like bone thing that was shaped into a Christian cross attached to a mike and air guitared on it when he wasn't singing. Most of his "singing" was this ridiculously high operatic wailing that just got on my nerves. He was singing about like possession and demons and shit, and the whole show was kinda like this metal opera thing. The set was supposed to be a cemetary I guess and like characters would come on stage and act or dance around during songs and King Diamond would kill them with a knife or whatever was hanging on stage. They included a baby (which was a doll), some lover of his, some pregnant bitch, and then some old man with a cane. Fucking weird shit. People singing along too to his operatic falsetto singing...bizzare. I guess King Diamond is just a voice for all the weirdo tweakers out there.
Anyway, after an In n' Out Burger, my night was complete. I missed the Celtics game, but I'm sure glad I did. There's always next year.

Sox won earlier today and have been on a fat tear lately, which i like lots! Jeremi Gonzalez did well in his spot start today and got a win and I'm still awaiting the bottom half of the doubleheader, which includes the debut of Wade Miller. They would sweep the Mariners with a win. Damon continues his hot hitting, Millar has been hot as well. Bullpen (Myers, Mantei, Timlin, Foulke) did great. About 15 minutes to first pitch...ahh should be good times.
