Today I didn't do much of anything. Tried to study. Failed. Watched the Sox game.

Wake is the FRIGGIN MAN!!! It was a pretty boring game really there was only action for about 20 minutes. The important thing is Wake pitched 6 VERY good innings (got out of a lot of jams), the Sox scored a few runs off a Renteria homer ("The Rent is DUEEEEE!" my new catch phrase) and a Payton 2 RBI single. Mantei came in and did, eh, ok, Embree shut shit down and Foulke came in and finished the job. Boring game but a SOLID win.

The D-Rays have issues. They consistently get beat up on the road. They've got good young starting pitching, a decent bullpen, and guys who can hit. What do they lack? POWER HITTING. You need a guy thats gonna clear the base paths every once in a while to keep the runs coming in. Walks and doubles are great and all but you need that ONE guy who can just park em. Until the D-Rays get like a Richie Sexson or a Troy Glaus (Melissa would f'n love that) they're gonna struggle offensively.

Then the Yankees got spanked again and the boss came out and had a mad spaz. I found this and thought it was hella funny.

Then I proceeded to follow the Celtics game as they (barely) beat the Raptors. Pierce had his usual scoring spree and for the first time since #33 was runnin with the Celts, we have the Atlantic Division. Ohhhhh yeah gotta love it!! More on the Celtics later when playoffs get a rollin'.

This is all well and good, but the highlight of my day comes later.

I go to see "Fever Pitch". Right off the bat let me just say the movie is very good and worth seeing. You gotta get past the sappy stuff (It's not like "You Got Mail" or anything) but overall its just a fun good movie to watch. I loved seein all the players participate in in (especially Damon he was all over the place) and they paid respect to a lot of old guys: Jim Rice, Dennis Eckersley, Keith MacWhorter, Ted Williams, Tony Conigliaro (whose #25 will be retired this year), Yastrzemski, etc.

When the end came and the Sox won it all and the fans were going crazy, it hit me. It FINALLY hit me. The Red Sox won it. They fuckin won the whole damn thing. I won't go into details, but I was pretty freakin shell shocked. There's other stuff I could write, but you'll have to IM me privately to get such info. I just couldn't fuckin believe it.

It's great. It's amazing. And my alarm is set for 8 AM tomorrow to watch Schilling take the mound against the BJ's.

What my rays need, is a bunch of middle-line players. We have the young guys and the old farts, but none inbetween. If a player wants to have a career year, play one season with the rays then go elsewhere and they get it, while we're still paying them. How sad is it that last year I was thrilled to not be in last place, woot what an accomplishment: fourth place. Haha. Dedication I suppose, or dementation some of my friends call it, hah. And we need to stop naming players our ace, every player that has been named ace has tanked, big time... Sturtze, Kennedy, Arrojo(not to be confused with Arroyo tee hee). The only fuckin glory moment we have is Boggsy's 3000 and ya know what the hall will prolly put him in as a sock, hah. The rays don't need Glaus, they have enough guys that hit under .300 all season *tee hee* Huff is the only hope for that go-to guy and he can't play the field too well so all he is good for is dhing and who the hell needs such a young dh that's a job for the old farts on their way out. Crawford can steal bases, he just needs to get on them in order to do so. Toby Hall must have flipped a shit when we signed Charles Johnson. To be the future of the franchise then have them bring in a former gold glover. Yeah slap in the face. I don't even know who the fuckin pitching staff is they change so constantly, it's like they're in a battle with the mariners to see how many times they can change the 5 man starting rotation. Least we got a healthy Dewon. Yeah and this is great I'm writing a frickin paper in your journal meanwhile the paper I'm supposed to be writing I'm getting nowhere on...yeah I might wanna go do that.

I can't wait for the Yanks Drays series. We might actually win a couple. The battle for the basement, woot woot.

Wake was awesome, he did get himself out of some potentially ugly situations.

I like your catch phrase for Rent. Someone in [livejournal.com profile] reds0x also mentioned "Welcome to the ER, bitch!" despite how sadistic it may sound.

I imagine I'll have a similar reaction during Fever Pitch which I see it.

That's a good one. Catch phrases for new players are always fun. We had a damn hey-day when Mike Myers first got traded last year.
