So I didn't see "Fever Pitch" yesterday. I was planning on seeing the 7:30 show, but uh the Sox game interfered. It wouldn't have been good either cause Ryan got here at like 8, and I wasn't expecting him to get here until real late. Then I decided to go to the 10:10 showing, but when it got to that time I kinda lost all desire to. Maybe some other time.

On another note, it is great to see Ryan again...it's been a pretty long while so I'm excited to have him back in Davis for sure. Hopefully good times to come.

So this is the big story from yesterday. Let me precede my rant of this with THE SOX WON 8-5 AND BEAT THE MFY'S!!!!! Rent Payton and Tek had homers, Arroyo pitched good, Foulke had command trouble but slammed the door at the end and beat a Randy Johnson-led Yankee team. Tek was the real story though, making nice plays at home and hitting more or less the game winning "Triple". We're now up to the 7th worst record in the MLB.

As far as the "incident" goes...

First off, for years and years we see fans reaching for balls. Remember in the 2002 World Series where every time a ball was hit to Right Field the Angels fans would hit the Giants RF with their ThunderStix??? Bartman anyone??? About once a week some fan interferes with a ball in play. I'm not condoning it or anything, that fan was a total moron. You reach into the field of play, I don't care whether you were going for the ball and just accidently hit Sheff, whatever, YOU FUCKED UP and should be banned from Fenway. He started this mess and should feel lucky Sheff didn't Ron Artest his ass.

Sheff is no better for what he did. You don't go back and hit him, I don't care what the hell he did. Hopefully he'll get his due suspension and we can get on with our lives. That being said, Sheff is ALSO lucky when he went back to jaw at him that that guy wasn't a total psycho and didn't take his head off.

The real joke was (Y)ESPN talking like Sheffield was a hero for what he did. That's a joke. You DON'T CONDONE hitting anyone. How many kids were watching Rick Sutcliffe and Chris Berman that now think it's ok to hit someone if they brush the brim of your cap? And then they were panning the camera out to every fan in Fenway drinking a beer, like Boston is nothing but a bunch of beer-swilling Neanderthals. ESPN is such a joke. Wake up, people. This isn't the antebellum South anymore. When someone does something you don't like, you don't just go and challenge them to a duel and see who shoots who first. The right thing to do is to WALK AWAY from the situation which Sheff FAILED to do. The fact that he's being applauded for being such a douche makes me sick.

Anyway, I'm going to see the A's-Angels game tonight. Maybe I'll get into it with Nick Swisher or something and see what he does. But I doubt it. I'd rather just heckle him.
